A hunt took place to find Brit Ian Griffin, 41, after the battered body of Polish millionairess Kinga Legg, 36, was found by a maid at the £1,000-a-night Hotel Le Bristol. He was alleged to have fled in his Porsche.
Griffin was arrested in Cheshire in June last year. He did not appear at the City of ­Westminster magistrates’ court yesterday because he was in hospital with kidney problems. Two weeks ago he took an overdose of ­prescription drugs. The court heard how Griffin, who was declared ­bankrupt four years ago, had also tried to slash his wrists twice while in custody."

Dentist gets 21 years for double murder - mirror.co.uk: "Colin Howell admitted murdering his wife Lesley, 31, mum of their four ­children, and PC Trevor Buchanan, 32, husband of Hazel Buchanan, with whom he was having an affair, almost 20 years ago. He was sentenced to life ­imprisonment last month.
Howell, 51, of Castlerock, Co Derry, Northern Ireland, disguised the murders as suicides. He gassed both victims with car fumes while they slept in May 1991, Belfast crown court heard.
Judge Anthony Hart said: “These were truly heinous crimes, cold-blooded, carefully planned and ruthlessly executed. Even when each victim stirred in their sleep, Howell did not draw back, but subdued their faint signs of consciousness.”"

Ex-Hells named in long unsolved murder: "Jeffrey Albert Lynds, 42, a former member of the Hells Angels has been named in an indictment filed in Nova Scotia concerning the 1999 death of Randy Mersereau, also a former member of the biker gang’s Nova Scotia chapter.
Lynds has not been charged with Mersereau’s death. But he is named as the person behind Mersereau’s murder in a charge alleging a Nova Scotia man named Gerald MacCabe acted as an accessory after the fact to Mersereau’s murder. MacCabe was charged in a Nova Scotia court of Thursday."

Teenaged hitman who beheaded victims held in Mexico - Hindustan Times: "14-year-old killer, known as the 'boy hitman' and wanted in Mexico for beheading several of his victims, has been arrested. Senior military officials said though they have reports that a person was arrested in Morelos state but were unaware if that individual was Edgar Jimenez Lugo alias 'El Ponchis', the daily Reforma reported.
The daily said Lugo was arrested with two of his sisters at an airport in Xochitepec city. The three were planning to travel to Tijuana and from there to neighbouring San Diego, California.
Lugo is accused of working as an assassin for the South Pacific drug cartel and of decapitating and dismembering his victims."
